The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as a specialist field of work.
The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.
Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) and as per Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 – Part 6.5 General construction induction training is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCWHS1001/CPCWHS1001 meets this requirement.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in:
22 units of competency:
- 17 core units
- 5 elective units
Some units in this qualification may have prerequisite requirements, which must be met when packaging the qualification. Users are referred to the list of CPC08 units with prerequisite unit requirements available in this Training Package for this purpose.
We currently offer this qualification as:
- A Traineeship over 24 months or
- RPL assessment only with a maximum duration of 3 months
Course costs and payment options are attached on the payment form/course information and vary between RPL Candidates and Apprentices/Trainees. Refunds will not be issued to students due to change of mind once the training/assessment process has commenced.
Individuals undertaking RPL assessments for this qualification will have 4 years’ experience as a minimum in the construction industry.
This qualification is just one of the requirements for an individual to obtain a licence with their states regulatory body. Please consult with your local authority to ensure you are eligible and meet other criteria prior to commencing studies with Building Industry Training. After the completion of this qualification, it is recommended that the student undertake an Approved Managerial Course for Trade Contractors or Certificate IV in Building and Construction.
